Fringe 3x18 Bloodline Review

I think many of you have already heard the great news , that Fringe was renewed by The FOX for a fourth and full(22 episodes) season, which is cool not only because we will have another year of excitment , but because we will have a proper follow up after season 3's ending. The producers said that they wrote and filmed the finale as a season finale and not a series finale and that they would have been shocked if the show would have got cancel.
This episode was the last to air until April 15th when the show will resume to air the last four episodes from this season.

This episode was an "over there" episode which are big favorites of mine. The last other side centered episode "Immortality" had many twists including the revelation that Bolivia is pregnant with Peter's baby. This episode we find out that if she will keep the child than she could die due to "viral propagated eclampsia" although she wanted to keep the child.Things went crazy after a group of mysterious people kidnapped her and experimented on her, than accelerated the "process" by having her have the child within hours instead of nine months with this surviving.
The episode also featured several revelations, Lincoln confessed his feelings for Bolivia and turned out that the real kidnapper was ultimately Walternate.
Despite lacking on some intense moments, the episode was a real blast and surprises but like I said, it lacked the well known WTF moments we used to get.

Breakout Kings 1x03 The Bag Man Review

Just to set the record straight, I haven't been watching this show up until heard that Nick Santora and the crew behind Prison Break is making this show.First when I heard of it just thought that it may be a Prison Break rip off but gladly I was wrong. The show takes place in the PB universe which is a great concept from my point of view since I was(and am) of the original Prison Break and it was great to see Robert Knepper return to portray(even if it's for the last time) the psychopatic Theodor'T-Bag'Bagwell.He managed to escape for the third time from a prison.Once with Michael Scofield as being part of the Fox River Eight than second time from Sona and now once again. His motives were unclear at first but it was fun to keep the audience guessing. We knew that he didn't go after Susan Hollanders but who was the mystery woman he was after? Not telling the audience this maintained the suspense of the episode.
The cast of the show is very rich and fabolous.Sure the only one I knew was Serinda Swan who portrayed Zatanna in Smallville(which is another of my all time favorites). The rest of the crew like I said is amazing, especially that hallorious 'nerd' type guy, Lloyd Lowery.Of course the show is far from Prison Break, it has many lacks as errors and even from one episode I could observe that some characters may not evolve beyond at some point. Some cases or even things were resolved with a simple phone call and they were some primitive moves as well but overall I think the series has potential.I may stick to this episode only and wait for the DVD to come out than watch the whole season and see what I think.(Kinda ironic because I'm not reading what Critics say but I write my own reveiwes so xD)

Stefan's Diaries

Thought I would do a review after a finished the  Vampire Diaries : Stefan's Diaries  trilogy but there is still plenty of time until Craving comes out so after finishing Origins and Bloodlust , I decided to write  a review.
The first thing you need to know is that the book is a tie-in to the CW's show but there are also some differences but not big ones.Tie-ins usually can be a pain in ass if they miss something or rewrite various events however Stefan's Diaries doesn't "do" any of that, as said it manages to stay true to the show. The only complain I have at this part is the way Lexi and Stefan meet in New Orleans instead back in Mystic Falls like it was on the show but I think the book version is more suitable.
The first book presents from Stefan's point of view(as the title suggests as well) the events during 1864 while he still was human.Stefan being in the center all the time does not mean that other well known or familiar characters are in the background like Damon Salvatore,Johnathan Gilbert,Katherine Pierce etc, as for a matter of fact, Katherine is very much indeed an organic part of the first book as he is the main reason Stefan's life changes in the first place.Stefan describes Katherine as an angel who turns out to be the exact opposite of everything he ever believed she is.Katherine had a dark secret that would have endangered pretty much everyones life if it came to daylight which it did at the end of the book. She is a vampire together with almost half of the locals from the town.Stefan and Damon both fell in love with her but she toyed with them eventually leading up both from drinking her blood and turning them into the same creatures she was after she was captured by Giuseppe Salvatore. The brothers have joined forces to help their love but they will soon shot and killed which started the process of turning them.Stefan eventually gave into his hunger and confronted his father which lead up of killing him and drinking his blood.Origins is a really good start for those who haven't watched the show before but read the previous L.J Smith series and also a good starting point for new readers as well.

RAZOR  rating : 8 (out of 10)

The second book was much more darker than the first one.Stefan and Damon now both vampires , are heading towards New Orleans. The context is also interesting.Damon being the "good" brother who tries to stay innocent while Stefan is actually much worse than Damon will ever become. He kills whom he wants whenever he wants not paying attention that his actions can have serious consequences.Arriving to New Orleans, Damon get's sick of his brother's way of behaving and murdering and they split ways.Stefan finally meets Lexi with whom he'll become best friends, and her crew who will help Stefan conquer his hunger and redeem himself.Damon meanwhile get's caught by a circus group who use him in cage fights to make money out of it.Stefan plans to rescue him because against all of their differences at the end of the day they're still brothers, they're still family. What he doesn't count is that he falls in love with the daughter of the man who kidnapped Damon.Choosing between Damon and Callie Gallagher is decision he is not sure of.If he saves Damon than what is the guarantee that he will not kill everyone because he saw how he changed in that place. Eventually Callie reveals to Stefan that he knows that Damon is his brother and he is a vampire as well but despite that he helps him free Damon who repays her by killing her and beating up Stefan pretty bad by making a promise that he will turn Stefan's life a leaving hell and avenging all those murders he commited. What he doesn't realise that he became the very same creature he sworn to destroy.

RAZOR rating: 9.5 (out of 10)

The third book will be the closing chapter of Stefan's Diaries which will hit stores this May.

Heroes 3x06 Dying of the Light Review

"I know what it feels like, now...all this power...I'm the most special!"

I know,I know it's in the past but either way 'Heroes' is over so I decided to "tribute" it with doing a review from one of my favorite episodes of the show.It is from Volume 3 "Villains" which I think was the point in the series' life when it lost all of it's logic :D I know I'm not alone who loves shows like this where you just have to sit and watch and eat meanwhile and drink and do wathever you want because either way you'll eventually loose the plot line.
ADAM: I guess you have some sort of special ability.
KNOX:I get stronger with peoples fear
       ADAM:Oh, I'm not afraid

Bassicaly this was the exit episode of David Anders who was brought back only to get killed off in order to rise up from the ground a greater villain, papa Petrelli.IMO there could've been a dozen other ways to have Arthur rise to it's "might" than to write off such a fan favorite character like Adam Monroe was.The storyline moved forward thanks to this episode. After a strong premiere came several weak episodes(such as 3x02,3x03) so the season or volume really needed to set things up and show us viewers were the story heads.
PETER:You're too weak to stop me!
Don't try to see the logic in Peter's past actions(such as like travelling to  the future 4 years to get Sylar's power only to loose control of it than have it removed completly which eventually figures that you haven't used it at all)because there isn't any.Peter veni ,vidi...vici?!?!!?Okay, now I lost even the logic of what the heck am I writting here. The scene where Peter kicked Sylar's sorry ass was the only "action packed " scene when they eventually face off against each other(by face off I mean Peter gives it all while Sylar has some heartwratching speaches of "how I am your brother and now I'm a good guy",(4x12 doesn't count as they both are powerless thanks to Peter's Haitian power of turning abilities off).
Okay, so after Peter having Sylar back at Level 5, he heads down(or up?!) to Pinehearst to take down the whole gang of villains all by himself only to have the shocking revelation that his father whom he thought dead for almost a year(18 months to be exact) was well and alive.Peter's entrance was something memorable. Giving daddy a hug was not such a wise move as he lost all of his abilities(WRITERS: Okay we need to come up with something pronto because we don't have enough money to invest into making Peter so badass xD hehe I'm evil...no a 'billain'.).
I don't know, is it ironic? "Dying of the light" they should've called it instead "Dying of Heroes?!".I'm not complaining here overall as I've said before it's one of my fave episodes just that besides being a geek I'm very realisitc at some points(currently 'Fringe' is my favorite show but I'm rating realist and I know the show is in some very deep water).
HIRO:Mr.African Isaac?
For the last couple of episodes(counting season 4 as well)the character of Hiro,Ando and Claire became iritant honestly. As they were fun in season 1 as Hiro being a funny geek,Ando a loyal sidekick and Claire being a rebelious teenager after a while it became something that people really grown to hate or at least NOT love anymore.
Overall the episode was as I've said several times, one of my personal favorites(besides season one's "unexpected","Five Years Gone" and season two's "powerless").
I think I'll rate it with a fair 7 out of 10(geek rating xD c'mon give a guy a break).

Heroes - a wasted opportunity?

Last few days I was watching the re-run of season 3 of 'Heroes' on the TV and suddently pmped in my mind. Did 'Heroes' been a wasted opportunity?Could have things gone better if the WGA strike wouldn't have happened?Or the show has been doomed with Season 2?Or it's just that the writers didn't plan beyond Season 1? In this post I'll try to analyze every aspect of it.
'How to Stop an Exploding Man'
The first season was a massive success around the globe.Sure it was risky as that time it was the most expensive show of the NBC to film. The pilot had two version from which one was presented during the may of 2006 and the second one at the San Diego Comic Con same year.Seeing the big fanbase the show gained within a few months, the channel decided to pick up the show for a 23 episode season. The pilot debuted on september 25, 2006 but was avaiable one week earlier for free on iTunes. The premiere have drawn 14 million viewers becoming one of the most watched premieres in the history of NBC.
The story followed the life of ordinary people who struggle with their newly explored special abilities. Some of them considers it a gift while some think it's a curse. The main protagonists of the first season were  a house nurse, Peter Petrelli who had the ability to mimic other people's powers, his brother, the congrassman Nathan Petrelli who could fly, his ilegitimite daughter, Claire Bennet aka the indistructible cheerleader who could heal from any wound, the junkie painter Isaac Mendez who could paint the future, a geek office worker from Japan, Hiro Nakamura who had the ability to bend space and time(stop time, travel in time), a troubled mom Niki Sanders who had identity issue and was as strong as Hulk,a detective and traffic controler named Matt Parkman who could read other people's mind and hear their inner most intimate thoughts, Peter's and Nathan's mysterious mom who can dream the future and finally a sociopath serial killer who's idenity is only revealed throu halfway of the season called Sylar and kills in order to get others powers.
As in any other drama shows, the main plot of the season is revealed in the first episdoe as the heroes try to prevent a bomb that would wipe out New York City and 0.7 % of the World's population. As the story unfolds, mysteries are revealed and more questions are given, the characters storyline beautifuly comes together for one massive showdown at Kirby Plaza against Sylar. Some think that this is where the show began going downhil as we didn't get the epic finale the season deserved. We saw Peter,Niki and Hiro kicking Sylar's sorry ass in no time and eventually Peter exploded while the fate of a few characters were left in air: Matt,DL and Nathan's faith were unknown.Isaac was written out as his character died at the hands of Sylar.
'Kindred'
The second season came along and was planned as a 24 episode long season consisting two volumes called 'Generations' and 'Exodus' althou the WGA strike cut the season to only 11 episodes. The last episode of the season was rewritten to be more of a season finale than fall finale and 'Exodus' was cancelled.'Villains' which was supposed to be volume 4 moved to volume 3 which eventually became the first part of the 3rd season. The second season's main problem was the lack of action, story and logics. It was also refered as 'the lackluster' season by IGN.com and as much as I hate to say , they're right at some point.Hiro's adventure to feudal Japan felt damn streched as he was struggling with the same nonsense for nearly 7 episodes, Peter's amnesia was also streched and his vision of the future should've occured in the first episodes instead of the 7th episode. The Shanti Virus story came pretty late and served as a 'need to wrap things up'.The characters of Maya and Alejandro weren't presented proprely and that could be one of the reasons the viewer could not connect with them.Sylar's storyline was unsure because the writer's didn't know what to do with him. Zachary Quinto who portrayed Sylar took a role in the new 'Stark Trek' movie so his character was to be writen out by the half of the second season but thanks to the strike production shut down for a couple of weeks which allowed Zach to complete his scene in the movie and return to 'Heroes' and with that writers gave Sylar back his abilities. The main mystery of the 2nd season was the mysterious killer who began killing former Company founders one by one and the mystery of the lost paints of Isaac Mendez.A series of paintings. The murderer was revealed to be Adam Monroe(portrayed by amazing actor David Anders) who was Hiro's dream knight Takezo Kensei in feudal Japan who also had the ability to heal which allowed him to live on forever, so after a long lacking season the show went on hiatus with the episode 'Powerless' and was considered the perfect ending of a 'lackluster'season and critics and fans hoped that the nine month pause would help the writers build up a more consistent and stronger season three which would help people 'forget' about the errors of season 3.Althou they had to redesign the whole 3rd season because 'Exodus' was cancelled.
'The Second Coming'
Season Three premiered on 22nd of September, 2008 and had a 2-hour premiere.'Villains' also had it's major errors. There were some really intense nonsenses.First why the heck did Peter take Sylar's ability if eventually ended up not using it?How the hell did a total solar eclipse occur twice in one year? Why they needed to write Adam out,I'm sure they could've found a way to bring papa Petrelli up to it's might without killing a 400 years old man so easely.Than there was the twist of Sylar being a Petrelli boy than eventually revealed to be NOT.I personally enjoyed that twist.Love when shows take such a drastic turns.Big scary villains escaped but were useless eventualy.Hiro becoming a 10 years old kid and so on and so on.Volume three came to a conclusion with some disappointments and the writers realised that they needed to change something because they were loosing viewers like hell. They planned up volume four 'Fugitives' and told us that the show will get back to it's roots from that on.They tied up almost all loose ends from previous seasons amd decided to start fresh.
'An Invisible Thread'
'Fugitives' started with Senator Nathan Petrelli revealing the existentce of evolved humans to the President of the USA and requesting permission to hunt them down and lock them away because that can be dangerous. This volume than gain some viewers but eventually lost as well.Danko was the main baddie for the first half of the volume as Sylar didn't cause much problem while he was looking for his dad but than after that he returned and with the ability of shapeshifting really shifted up our heroes' lifes.Killed Nathan but mama Petrelli and Matt made Sylar to belive he was Nathan(talking about twist huh?Wait for season 4).So the story got really out of control in one words.IMO I think the main problem was that while the first season was all about the characters and their dilemmas, problems etc. the other seasons focused more on the powers.Nathan and HRG shiftig sides from minute to minute was also lacking in logics and becoming used and boring after a while. Mohinder and Ando now having abilities meant that the characters lost from their charm which they possesed during the first two seasons. They were the only normal humans(thank god Mr.Muggles still remained the same over the course of the seasons :P).
'Jump,Push,Fall'
Season four was announced as a 19(18 because the 2-hour premiere was counted as one) episode season and gain the title 'Redemption' which left many fans, previous viewers and critics skeptic about it but believe it or not the show really redeemed itself in some ways.(well no one and I mean NO ONE expected the show to regain it's 1st season glory). They introduced us some really awesome villains: Samuel Sullivan,Lydia and Edgar who were al part of a nomad carnival who try to lure our heroes in to join them. While there were some nonsense as well in this season too, they at least wrap up the loose ends from last season.Main problem I could point out are the characters who just dissappeared or appeared from to the nowhere during the run of the season.Sylar becoming the main villain than the good guy was something that was used in season 3 before but failed to deliver quality althou here looks like worked.Sylar had I think personally, the most interesting storyline this season. Not going to write every ascept down as I explained everything before in my 'Heroes Season 4 Review' post. The intentions of Samuel's evilness was still unclear as the season came to an end.Was he trying to revenge his brother whom he killed?Whas he trying to impress his girlfriend? Was he feeling betrayed?Remains unclear.Hiro recovering miraculosly from his brain tumor was the only thing that really bothered me this season.I mean REALLY bothered me.But this is Heroes where no one dies really. Nathan exploded but returned,Nathan was shot but returned, Nathan was killed by Sylar but returned as a brainwashed Sylar.Hiro had his brain tumor but returned.Charlie died but returned thanks to Hiro's selfish(?!) actions.
Overall the show had some great moments but it became clear that the producers though the show will fail after one season so they didn't planned ahead and when season two's time came they had no idea what to do. The writer's strike blow their plans and with season three they were out of ideas. That's what I think happened and ruined Heroes.Poor show deserved so much more.Last year, on may 14th, 2010 when Heroes cancellation was announced many fans remained heartbroken. It was replaced by 'The Cape' which premiered on Heroes' time slot, Monday 9/8 C  on January 2011.The show failed even worse than Heroes because it aired only 9 episodes and the last episode aired only online.I think people would've enjoyed a 5th season of Heroes much more than 'The Cape'.

Fringe 3x16 Os Review

I am beginning to feel that the show(despite giving more answers to previous questions) tries to redeem itself and improve it's quality which worked giving the latest episodes(Immortality, 6B, Subject 13).As season 3 has been a rollercoster ride for wild fans some viewers really gave up the show making the show hold a steady 1.5 for the past several weeks.Good news thou that sure last week was fringe-less it didn't fall from it's 1.5 but kept it. The fate of the show is still unknown althou.

The glyphs of this week's episdoe revealed the word 'EARTH'.The plot of the story was also interesting. People who defyied gravity. The 'bad guy' was more of a tragic villain who has done some bad things in order to help his handicap son.
Walter was confronting some walls as well.It was(as I can remember) the first really hard task for him since the show began, to find out what made the victims  "fly".He needed William Bell's help and was desperate to contact him via Soul Magnets which worked because Belly's soul "returned" to it's human host/vessel who's non other than *** SPOILER ALERT *** Olivia Dunham ***SPOILER ALERT***.
Peter also confessed his feeling for Olivia and revealed her that he was the one who haunted down the shapeshifters couple of weeks ago(happened in Reciprocity).

Despite being a series regular alongside Astrid, neither she or Broyles had any significant roles in the past couple of episodes. Not that I'm complaining, they're good actors but I'm glad that writers decided to focus more on Peter/Olivia and Walter/Bell storyline.Peter and Olivia finally opened up to each other and(seemingly) moved past Bolivia(but for some reason there were hints that Peter may love her more than Olivia).Nina also returned after a few episode break and the chemistry(like always) between her and Walter was terrific.Lost fanboys like me could've screamed at the beginning as Jorge Garcia aka Hurley made an interesting cameo appearance

The episode also marked(as mentioned before) the return of William Bell.So the story really starts to come together. The two universe are left in disaster,Bolivia pregnant with Peter's child, Bell returned, Peter really getting "brainwashed" by the Doomsday device, Olivia...pretty interesting position she got right now. Can't wait to see how will the finale look like.Plus we will get at least one more 'over there' episode before the finale according to producers.

Now I'm excited...

4 out of 5.

Smallville 10x16 Scion Review

The introduction of Conner Kent in the Smallville universe could leave very much options for The CW to keep this universe alive.'Spin offs' are always a good way to continue a hit show. The episode truly delivered the quality that we would've expected from a show's final season. There were some very memorable episodes this season true(Lazarus,Homecoming,Luthor,Icarus) but also some that were a bit of a disappointment(Shield,Harvest,Collateral) but overall Scion was an outstanding episode from my opinion.
Conner really loved NFS Underground so he decided to try it out himself

It was interesting to see Clark take on the role of his parents and trying to 'teach' Conner everything he was taught by Jonathan & Martha Kent years ago.Conner being the 'genetic love child of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor' , as Lois Lane phrased, really brings  some tension to the episode because true that half of his gens are from Clark but the other half is Lex's and the dark side is somewhere in him as well which in a very clever mode was brought to light by the evil Lionel Luthor from the parallel world.Giving Conner the red kryptonite ring was really something that only an evil Luthor would've been capable of thinking. Also having half of Clark's DNA  Conner developed some kind of romantic interest face of Lois Lane and that really left a bit of a mess in the city of Metropolis(no, literally  car jacking, diamon necklace stealing etc.).The 'final showdown' between Conner and Clark was truly amazing and reminescent to the final scene of 'Exile' from the 3rd Season premiere where Jonathan and Clark faced off.Overall things ended on a high note.Lionel was proven to be 'fake' by Tess who found a pattern, that the Lionel's from the prime universe and Earth-2's fingerprint are mirror of each other's so with this he was escorted from the Luthorcorp Building and sent away.Conner  doned the name Kent and plans to attend to Smallville High School while puting on some interesting choice of T-Shirt.
'Saw yesterday's news with Superman and if you're Superman than I'm Superstar, cool isn't it Clark?' ^^

The final scene from the episode was something that may show us what can we expect from the third quarter of the season as the show races to the much anticipated 2 hour series finale(oh yeah, Rosenbaum is returning), Lionel visiting the true Lex Luthor's grave is a very interesting part of the episode and says that he would give anything to have him by his side.Darkseid appears before Lionel and we can only expect to see the two strike a deal which would bring Lex back from the dead.
'I can bring you Lex back Lionel but first...you need to sign this papers here, here and...here!Thanks.Also, I need your phone number.'

Lucas Grabeel did an outstanding job as Conner/Alexander I hope we'll see him at least one more time before the show flies off .
The next episode will be titled 'Kent' and will air on the 15th of April, 2011.

PS. I think the final episode's title should be 'ROSENBAUM'. xD

Lionel and Tess go head to head in a battle for the Luthor name. Clark and Lois are stunned by Tess' latest present to them.

Become my apprentice, learn to use the dark side of the ---- wait! that's another movie...

Few weeks back we viewers were shocked to the revelation that Alexander's skin is inpenetrable  amd many of us(I for one didn't) started to speculate what could be "wrong" with this young man.Than spoilers came and one of them revealed Alexander to be an indeed familiar 'Smallville' version of a DC comics characters

So we got an interesting concept for tonight's episode : Tess vs. Lionel, Alexander manifesting some new abilities, Tess surprising Clark with something, Lois in some very deep water waiting to be dealt by Lionel Luthor and Alexander finally choosing sides:Who will it be? His father from an alternate world or his 'family' who made him feel human?Don't dare to miss this episode dear friends :D

The episode was written by Al Septien & Turi Meyer and directed by Al Septian which servers as his directional debut.
Tonight at 8/7C only on The CW

True Blood Season 3

CLUB DEAD 4 THE WIN

The show really started to grow. The first season was about presenting the characters, season two was about developing the relationship between them and the third one is...about going dark side.
Haven't finished the whole 3rd one but decided to write about it.Werewolfs always played a big part in vampire mythologies and True Blood isn't different at all.Werewolfs arrived and they're more powerful then before(including Twilight saga and Vampire Diaries), they feed on V or V Juice or Vampire Blood, call it as you want it, and they serve a 2800 year old Vampire named Russell.
The staff in the writers room really make a good job on the show. They introduce every aspect of every character and they take that someone and explore all of it's emotions etc.Something not many show does or failed doing so( ex. Heroes or at some level even Prison Break). One of the most drastic but also amazing at this field was the evolution of Bill Compton who from season 1 thus season 3 really went under a big emotional change going from the calm and charming vampire to a blood hungry dark side figure which really worked and I think took  a lot of people with this and all thanks to the amazing scripts Allan Ball and the writers do.
Season Three really got me, more then previous seasons, writers decided to  let go of their fears and limits and just focus more on the story than on the book(sure the book still plays a big part as it is the primary inspiration of the show).
Not many show's viewership increases this much from season to season(I can only name two House M.D. and CSI Miami) and despite the writers' writing the cast does an amazing job as well.
More after I'll finished watching the season.
