Heroes Season 4 Review

"A broken vessel, an empty shell, what is a man without mind, without memory? A ghost? A body in search of a soul? With no compass to guide us, how can we know if our destiny is to seek the good, or obey the demons that whisper in our ears? The blank slate hungers to be written upon. The body thrives when the heart has a mission."
 - Samuel Sullivan

After two seasons of disappointment the viewership of the show declined drastically and the creators knew that they need to return to the roots in order to save the show. Many were skeptical when the title of the 5th volume "Redemption" was announced and many thought that it may be a risky move to "throw" everything away and redeem the series and even if it wasn't what all people expected(I personally enjoyed this season much more then the previous two) things played out pretty well. The characters evolved into the better(with the exception of Claire who from Season 1 onwards became much more like a crying barbie)and perhaps Zacarhy Quinto who played Sylar had the most interesting storylne not because he was in every episode but because he had dual roles. He had to play the brainwashed Sylar who was a someone with no memories and the Sylar who was inside Matt Parkman's head. The show's quality evolved also maybe because unlike in other seasons, each episode focused on only a few characters and not all of them. They had more space and time to set for each character where to go.So overall while there were no big changes or WTF cliffhangers at the end of the episodes I darely say that this season indeed was an improvement.

Even with the premiere episode the character improvement could be seen as the theme wasn't "let's save the world again" but they had to deal with some more personal stuff and thing. For example Peter Petrelli hoped to find redemption by saving people as a paramedic(using the ability he got from Mohinder) but knew that with a few saves the past won't be ereased.Noah Bennet who formed a new Company with Angela Petrelli , weren't looking for redemption, okay Noah was but Angela only had interest in keeping "Nathan" himself after Matt Parkman tricked Sylar into believing that he was Nathan.Matt Parkman had his issue as well and in order to find redemption he gave up using his powers but the ghosts of the past don't just go away like that, he had Sylar in his mind sometime taking over his body and doing nasty things.Hiro and Ando founded a "Dial a Hero" company in order to "save" people but the bussiness didn't go quite well.Hiro also had his own problems on a whole different level, he had brain tumor for using his powers and was dying , Claire went to University as a freshman, Tracy gone rogue and wanted to murder all of the former Company men who hurt her and while there was no word on where is Mohinder Suresh , it was a freshing idea for the show because they kept the audience guessing and maintained the suspence.

The villains of the season were the people from the Sullivan Bros. Carnival who for change weren't a threat that would cause the end of the world, really were entertaining and not just because they were played by well known actors/actress.The main baddie, Samuel Sullivan(played by Robert Knepper from Prison Break,Transporter 3) "lost" his brother and in order to get revenge decided to lure in many of our heroes to his carnival and take care of those who mean them harm. His right hand man, Edgar(Ray Park from Star Wars I, X-Men,G.I. Joe) althou started out as a sympathic villain later had a change of heart and became an anti-hero. Another interetic concept was the introduction of Lydia aka the Tattoo Lady(Dawn Olivieri from The Devil's Den, True Blood) who with her tattoos could show anything.

The worst part of the season were the lacks of some elements and twisted but ultimately unnecessary plots for example the true reason why Samuel Sullivan had such power. We were tricked into believing that he can control only earth later it was revealed that the true source of his powers were those who have abilities so in order not to become powerless he had to have people with abilities surround him. This was twisted but not bad , the real reason for saying "worst" was that we were lead to belive that the true reason why Samuel want's havoc is to avange the death of his brother(whom he killed for betraying him) but then appeared the little blondie and for several episodes we thought that all was for him to impress her but then again after she rejected him everything was still blur.So all in all the real reason for Samuel's bloodlust remained unrevealed.
While as I said the season was enjoyable a major fall could've been observed. The premiere and the first half of the season contained strong episodes and set  up some major plots and character development but as it rushed into it's second half after a month break the story even after like 6-7 episodes stood still,we didn't get the answers to Samuel's plan,we didn't see Hiro was going to live of die and even Suresh after reappearing had gone into smoke after a few episodes as well as Angela too.Claire's college life was all about whinning while Tracy was good and bad and bad again and good again and was gone during the second half, just disappeared only to show up in the last minute. Some of these storylines just felt stretched and unnecessary.
But being an improvement in the series didn't come all by itself. The writers had a great taste into giving some characters some interesting plot. The dual plot of Sylar as the body and soul.Body was tricked into believing it's Nathan while the soul was inside Matt Parkman haunting him.Mohinder being dead for weeks was an interesting plot as how he ended  up dead as well as Hiro's personal dilemma to right the wrongs of his life before he dies and bringing back former members of the show was also a good point for example the return of Charlie,Kaito Nakamura and even Adam Monroe.
In some sort of way volume 5 of Heroes did find Redemption and for that even that the series ended in a "brave new world" was an interesting and overall enjoyable concept and even that the show was cancelled in May I can say it had a decent ending.
I'll give this season a 8 out of possible 10.

Fringe - The Doomsday Device

At the 2nd season finale Walternate gave Peter's the task to built a machine that according to him can "protect" their universe from the other one and assure that they can survive the impact if there was a war coming. What Peter didn't know is that this machine called 'The Doomsday Device' is capable of massive destruction which would result the end of a universe and since Walternate is the one to use it it's no question that the prime universe is his target.Tricky thou the thing is that the machine only 'responds' to Peter's DNA.Not much after the events of 'Over There' turned out that Bolivia(or Fauxlivia or whatever her name is) was sent to the parallel side in order to recover the pieces that are missing from the device or the Wave Sink Device as it was called later. So Peter was the first piece of the  puzzle and Bolivia's mission on the other side was to manipulate him into finding and building the machine to "resolve the problem" between the two worlds.Lucky for us we got our Walter too who begins suspecting things and takes a closer look into the blueprints and the device and realises that not all things  are what they look and after succesfully seeing through Bolivia, they realise her true identity and arrest her.Ofcourse naturaly things don't go as planned and she manages to get back to her side with leaving a dead Bryoles in the other side.Olivia get's home after a long walk on the other side and the Fringe Team aquires the mysterious typewriter machine that allows them to communicate with the other side.Thing's couldn't go any better right? xD

Smallville Favorite momennts

For starters, I really love the show althou for some unknown reason I haven't enjoyed that much the first 3 seasons. They were good but didn't entertain me that much althou starting from season 4 it really amazed me and after the bit dissappointment I felt I was totally hooked.
Like I said I didn't have much favorite moments in the beginning all except maybe for a season 3 episode called *searching the episode list*  Truth which had a really funny plot, Chloe temporarily gain a superhuman ability and became a living human lie detector. Before that the season premiere episode Exile was another great episode featuring a red kryptonite hooked up Clark or Kal how he named himself and was literarilly living a life of a criminal in Metropolis like going to clubs, taking up random womans and robbing banks while having a really expensive loft and meanwhile working for the local mafia.
Season Four had it's moments as well but for some reason I missed the good filter episodes. To be honest wasn't a big fan of season five's either and was a pretty weak season from my point of view(in exception of Season seven which the critics thought was very lacking I really enjoyed thou) but an episode stood out for me, Splinter which introduced a new form of kryptonite, the silver kryptonite which caused Clark to became paranoid and doubt his friends and family and believing that they all sold him out to the Luthors. Now that episode really was enjoyable watching.
Season Six was an awesome season with having great but also low moments. An episode my friend enjoyed and watched it several times was the episode called Reunion which revealed viewers Lex's and Oliver's past as they both attended to the same university and built up their rivalry that became mutual hatred toward each other in the present.Best part, they beat the living hell out of each other in the episode finale.Gotta loved that scene, we sure did.
Then along came another seriously troubled episode Labyrinth and that was another one I really enjoyed.Clark wakes up "discovering" that he is in a mental institute and that he is crazy and delillusional and that he had a big trauma after his parent's dead which caused him to create a world to "protect himself", in one word:he's crazy and everything that happened in the past was just fiction because it didn't exist for example Jor-El is a soap, the phantom zone is a book and he didn't save Lex but caused his accident which left him paralysed for all his life.
Season Seven didn't had much stand alone or filter episodes but I really enjoyed the whole season and Descent proved that the show can have a really dark tone and be awesome at the same time.

Season Eight then was a whole new direction but I had two very favorite(lol that was said) episodes with one of them being Instinct which introduced the live version of the comic character, Maxima and nuff' said about her character.Watch the episode and you'll see what I'm talking about here. The second one was Beast which was an emotional episode rather then a funny one and featured the inner struggle of Davis Bloome aka Doomsday and his realtionship with Chloe and Clark.
Season nine was also very applaudable but my favorite had to be the episode titled Persuasion which was a Valentine's Day edition episode and featured a gem kryptonite which after infecting Clark had the wishes become true that he wished also another episode called Warrior was a big one and featured a convention called Metropolis Comic Con(ring any bell = San Diego Comic Con xD) and another thing that made this episode great was the fact that non other then Allison Mack directed it.
And so we are at Season Ten which is pretty legendary so far...

Smallville "Icarus" and "Collateral"

The show returns on 28th January, 2011 after it's fall break.Icarus which served as the last episde to air in 2010 really left us with a cliffhanger and the death of a hero and the defeat of a villain.
I'll write a shorter review of the episode here then and in the end a little sneak peek of what's to come in the new year.So Clark made a big step and finally proposed Lois at the phone booth where they "first met", well where Lois first spoke to the Blur. She said yes and they held an engagement party at the Watchtower with the presens of Tess,Emil Oliver, Courtney(Stargirl) and Cartel Hall(Hawkman). The party surprisingly goes well but later at night Oliver,Cartel and Courtney are attacked by random people who all wear a tattoo, the Omega tatto which is the symbol of the darkness.Cartel reveals that this darkness was several times on Earth during the centuries and he played a key role to defeat it everytime and described his presence as a "bright litgh" that pushed the darkness away. As revealed, Cartel is like three thousand years old.Althou later Tess,Lois and Emil are brought in for their relation to the 'terrorists', Cartel,Oliver and Clark broke into the general's office who turned out to be a ressuracted Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke and found files on his computer titled "Project Icarus" which reflects that the highter the heroes try to reach the greater their fall will be.As Hawkman faces off against Dethstroke to save Lois, Hawkman is mortally wounded and after saving Lois, he dies meanwhile Clark uses the House of El item to transport Slade into the phantom zone where he won't hurt anyone ever again. As the team gather together in Egypt to say a last goodbye to their true friend where they want to burry him ,a shinny little pyramid emerges from the tomb causing a bright flash of light knocking everybody out unconscious.
The episode scored a 4 out of 5 rating.
Next episode returns on January and will be titled Collateral and will mark the return of Allison Mack(Chloe), John Glover(Lionel Luthor) and Alania Huffman(Black Cannary).
Here's a little sneak peek of what's to come.

Fringe 308: Entrada

Fringe's ratings were up and down this season but mostly stood in the same place and if it isn't enough, FOX moved the show to Friday once returns from the hiatus after it's fall finale on December 9 meaning that probably wants to get rid of the show otherwise why would he put it on the death slot?According to the big bosses at the studio , with it's friday slot the show has more surviving chances then with thursday.Hell yeah and I'm Clark Kent.
Anyway this episode marked the end of a massive chapter this season with Olivia returning home from 'over there' and Bolivia returning home 'overe there'.Honestly there were a few plotholes and non sense stuff but overall the episode was one of the greatest episodes this season so far.The opening sequence was slightly different to with the color shifting from blue to red and vice versa reflecting that the episode is shifting between the two parallel universes.
The episode started with Peter finding out(with little help) that the woman he has been sleeping with for weeks is actually Bolivia, Olivia's counterpart from the other side. After calling Walter and Broyles in, the team began the investigation to find the doppleganger leading them to Bronx where they found the type writer that can communicated between the two worlds.
Over there, Olivia is locked down and Walternate is planning on sending her back to her world but not before they take her brains out to examine on it.Col.Broyles helps Olivia escape with this sacrificing himself and Olivia finally get's home.Astrid phones Broyles and informs him about Olivia's safe return from the other side but Bolivia is gone. She went home too.
Now with Olivia home, Peter decides to tell her his relationship with Bolivia and how he thought it was the real Olivia but he's affraid what she will think.Broyles meanwhile stares at his alternate self who was found dead after Bolivia went back.Astrid is happy to see her teammate while Walter is still trying to understand how the Doomsday device works that Walternate wanted Peter to use in order to destroy the parallel universe because as he said:"There's a war between the universes and only one of them can survive the impact."
I rate this episode with a 4.5 out of 5.
*Let's hope Fringe's ratings are better on the Other Side xD.

Hellcats Season 1 so far

Hellcats was the only new show I've expected to watch this season on The CW but things changed. The show is based upon a bestseller book but with some heavy differences according to several sources. The series stars Aly Michalka as Marti Perkins, a girl who wants to get her scholarship and finish the lawyer's university but she doesn't have enough money so decides to get involved into cheerleading. She befriends a cool girl there, Savannah. She first makes enemies but soon things will get sorted out.

The first quarter of the season so far was about being able to be in several places in the same time.Marti struggled between cheerleading, university, friendship with both Savannah and her childhood friend Dan. She manages to "calm" her enemies down saying that she will leave once she has the money to carry on her carrier. Savannah eventually falls in love with Dan but afraid that Dan and Marti has something really dark between them. Something that happened in the past and non of them moved on with it.

But not only they have things to worry about. As the 20 year old girls are having dilemmas dark things happen at the school office too.Lewis, who is also part of the Hellcats team, has daddy issues as turns out that his dad is corrupt with the half of the school so for a back up plan the office calls back a legend from the past, Red Raymond to clear things out and make football a legend once more.Sure Red has some "things" to as it is revealed that he had a sexual relationship with Venessa in the past which endangers her current relationship with her fiancee, Derick who is also a coach at the school.Sure also Red isn't as clean as well as many thought.

The second quarter focuses on Marti's solo mission on trying to release a man from prison who was sentenced to life for a crime that wasn't that grave.Marti and her partner, a nerdy guy decide to get him out no matter what but things don't go as good as they plan.Meanwhile it is revealed that Marti slept with her best friend Dan once and lied to Savannah about it.

The show at first impression looks like a teen soap opera but I assure you it's nothing like that. It's like comedy mixed with action, drama and...well no words for it xD.The show sure keeps getting better and better and the song choices are awesome as well that fit the episodes best.I'll rate the first season with a 4 out of possible 5.
